Educated at Wellington School, Somerset until 1976. Graduated from Birmingham in 1979 in Accounting and Finance and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in April 1983. Joined the Practice in 1984 and became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in September 1993. A Member of the Institute Taxation and Auditing Faculties and the Agricultural Law Association. Founder of Mitchells Chartered Accountants as an independent agricultural practice in 1996. David is a well-known speaker on agricultural taxation. He is a farmer's son and has direct personal experience of the agricultural sector as he is also managing partner of his family's mixed farming business.
Samantha is a farmer's daughter from a well known farming family. Educated in Hertfordshire until 1989. Samantha joined the practice in May 1994 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in November 1994. She is a Member of the Institute Audit Faculty. As a Partner Sam is particularly involved with the Practice's corporate clients. Sam became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in December 2004 and a Fellow of the Agricultural Law Association in March 2014. She is an active committee member for the Somerset Centre of Management in Agriculture. Sam and her husband have a farm near Wellington. They have two sons and as a family enjoy all outdoor pursuits. Sam is also actively involved in the local community, regularly assisting with the Brownies and Guides and being a Governor at Wellington School.
Rachael was raised on a 4th generation dairy farm in the Blackdown Hills, which is currently farmed by her parents and brother. She has always been a keen member of Young Farmers, holding many posts and being actively involved with Yarcombe & District YFC. She plays netball in the Honiton league and enjoys kayaking on the calmer days in the summer. Rachael joined the practice as a trainee in 2006 and achieved the Association of Accounting Technicians qualification. Subsequently she qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in October 2012 and consequently became an Associate of the practice. She is also a member of the Agricultural Law Association.
Educated at Wellington School, Somerset until 1984. Graduated from Reading University in 1988 with a B.Sc. Hons in Agriculture. John joined the Practice in 1989 and trained as a Chartered Accountant until 1994. As an Associate he has a wide experience of all aspects of the practice services. John is descended from a Devon farming family, is married and enjoys most sports.
Esther is an active farmer’s daughter from Mid Devon, and enjoys spending her time outside the office on her family's mixed farm, especially at lambing time. In her spare time she enjoys a variety of sports and plays for her local hockey and netball team as well as treasurer for the hockey club and her local Church. She has been part of the Mitchells team since 2001 and became AAT qualified in September 2004. She has recently become a fellow member of the AAT due to her years of experience within the firm and was promoted as a manager in the practice in May 2014.
